Your journal is where you track the amount of time you've spent on various Activities throughout the week.
In Zipwire, the year is broken down into numbered weeks. Week 1 is the first full week of the year, so it may not start on 1st January.
Use the week number navigation at the top of the page to move around. Another week nav is found at the bottom of the page, too.
Days with nothing tracked simply have a Add time button. Hit this button to begin tracking time against an activity.
Clicking Add time will reveal a simple UI for putting time against an activity. If you already have at least one activity setup, it'll be selected already and you can repeatedly tap the hour h and minute m buttons to increase the time spent on it.
The buttons are designed to be very quick to work with and operate like many microwave ovens, though there is no way to shave time off, i.e. decrement the time, so if you add too much, you'll have to hit Reset and start over.
The Reset button will reset back to the time that was on the clock when the page was loaded. Tapping it again will then zero-out the time, and hitting it one more time will remove the entry UI completely.
As soon as you add time against an activity, further UI controls appear. A note text box into which you can add a short comment which will be made visible on the timesheet. The Add time button reappears to allow you to add more time against a different activity, and the Copy down button to let you rapidly copy this day's data down the rest of the week.
If you tap the activity selector "drop down" box, you'll see Add new activity... in the list. When this is selected, a UI appears into which you can enter three name parts to create a new activity.
The new activity will not be stored until you save the changes to your week. If you add time against a new activity but navigate away from the current week before saving changes, it will be lost.
You can name your activity whatever you want and the company > project > activity shown in the UI is only a guide.
The new activity and the time you've put against it will be saved only when you click Save at the bottom of the page. The mini time badges will appear in amber to indicate that you have unsaved edits.
All activities must be linked to a Workflow. When you ask Zipwire to create your timesheet(s), if it finds any without a workflow, it will present a UI through which you can make the link. It's this linking mechanism which allows Zipwire to know who approves which activities.
Zipwire currently does not have any way to track start and end times for an activity. It only let's you record the total time against an activity.
Finally, don't forget to save your changes! Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see a summary of totals by day and some buttons.
Tap Save changes and after a second the amber badges will turn clear and you can leave the page.
Lastly, if you added e.g. 2 hours to Activity One on Monday, and then added another entry under Monday of 1 hour to the same Activity One, then it'll sum the total and present just one entry of 3 hours once it has saved changes.
It'll also remove any entries of zero time and generally clean everything up!
